We don’t chicken out!

2 minutes reading time
We knew that achieving change in our food system would be a big adventure for us. Currently, as you have probably already heard, we have another hurdle to overcome.

In December, the Zurich Administrative Court in Switzerland ruled that we can continue to label our products with names such as "planted.chicken" and that consumers will not be misled. Unfortunately, our joy did not last long, as we now have to defend our case again. The Federal Department of Home Affairs (FDHA) has challenged the decision of the Administrative Court and decided to submit it to the Swiss Federal Supreme Court.

After the EU already paved the way for plant-based products in October 2020 by allowing meat labels on packaging, this setback comes as a big surprise to us.
We trust that our Swiss government will continue to pursue its agenda for sustainability, innovation and entrepreneurship and set the record straight.
Wouldn't it be better for all this energy and effort to be invested in changing towards a better, healthier and more sustainable food system rather than in maintaining the status quo? You know our answer.

Over the last few days, we have been overwhelmed by numerous positive and motivating messages from you - our dear community. Many of you have asked how you can support us.
We have therefore decided to launch a challenge: #wedontchickenout. And this is how you can take part:

  1. Take a photo of other products that use animal terminologies that are not in the product (e.g. Hot Dogs), and share it in your story on Instagram. Tag us with @eatplanted and use the hashtag #wedontchickenout

    OR
  2. Send us an email with your photo and comment at [email protected]
We will collect all the posts and share them with the community and the Swiss Federal Court. That’s it for now – but rest assured we are only getting started. #wedontchickenout
