Kemptthal, Switzerland, 11. January 2023-On the occasion of Veganuary, Planted presents the "Check the ingredients" campaign. The Swiss foodtech start-up, known for its plant-based meat, is calling on people to take a closer look at the list of ingredients in plant-based foods. This is because some plant-based meat alternatives contain ingredients from printer ink or shampoo. The campaign therefore focuses on the health of consumers. Planted only uses selected natural ingredients - No additives. The campaign is visible on posters and social media in Switzerland and is flanked by collaborations with content creators.

 

Veganuary inspires people around the globe to eat vegan in January and beyond for the sake of the environment and animals. With a Europe-wide Veganuary campaign, Planted encourages consumers to pay attention to the list of ingredients and to take care of their own health in addition to the environment. The motto: «Check the label».

 

The good intentions of many manufacturers of plant-based products often end with the ingredient list. Methylcellulose, maltodextrin, emulsifiers like sunflower lecithin, tertiary butylhydroquinone, dextrose, calcium hydroxide and modified food starch are just some of the ingredients found in some plant-based meat alternatives. These ingredients are also used for printer ink or shampoos. One claim of the campaign is therefore: «A good ingredient list is like a good wedding speech: short.»

 

Transparent meat production No additives

"We are excited about the attention that some companies have created for the area of alternative proteins. However, we also believe that an even better approach is needed to sustainably convince consumers," says Christoph Jenny, co-founder of Planted. "With this mission in mind, we produce products that are healthy for consumers thanks to the variety of proteins from peas, sunflowers and oats, and that protect the environment.»

The centerpiece is a mega-poster in Bern. Just in time for Veganuary, Planted is also launching the planted.chicken patty. The new product is a hit aschicken patty in one piece with a particularly stringy texture, a juiciness, and only naturalingredients and is now available at “Union Diner” in Zurich and Basel. Planted is also partnering with Just Eat to expand the selection of plant-based dishes on the platform throughout January and make it easier to order plant-based meals.
