Foodtech startup Planted launches plant-based barbecue skewers
Kemptthal, Switzerland, June 22, 2022 - With the return of warm temperatures, the smell of grilled food is in the air again. Just in time for the start of this year's barbecue season, Planted is launching an innovation on the market: With the new planted.chicken barbecue skewers, the classic barbecue skewer is now available in a plant-based version - for all those who want to reduce their meat consumption at the BBQ, but do not want to forego taste.
Ready marinated kebabs: From the package directly on the grill and ready in just 2-3 minutes
Planted stands for transparency, so the new planted.chicken barbecue skewers also consist of only four natural ingredients: Water, pea protein, pea fiber and rapeseed oil. In addition, they convince with sufficient vitamin B12 and high protein content. Like Planted's other products, planted.chicken barbecue skewers contain no flavorings, preservatives, other additives, soy, gluten or lactose. To ensure that the grill-ready skewers turn out particularly juicy, they can simply be placed directly from the package onto the grill for a maximum of two to three minutes and the vegetable barbecue menu is ready. The typical BBQ flavor is provided by a lemon and herb marinade that harmonizes perfectly with the smoky aroma of the grill: Refreshing lemon juice in combination with oregano and rosemary gives the kebabs a delicious spice, chili and paprika go perfectly with vegetable proteins and refine their flavors.

Planted manufactures the planted.chicken barbecue skewers from alternative proteins, focusing on the perfect bite. Inspired by nature, the company is pioneering a novel biostructuring approach. "Juicy, tender meat combined with an herb marinade make the summer barbecue experience unique. From now on, this is also possible with our meat made from plants," says Judith Wemmer, responsible for product development at Planted, adding, "Because thanks to our innovative manufacturing process, we can simply skip the animal and convert peas directly into fibrous meat instead. This allows us to reduceCO2e emissions by 74%, but enjoy the barbecue just as much whether at home or in the park."

Switzerland-wide "Taste will Save us" BBQ campaign
To increase our positive impact on the planet, everyone needs to pull together, and the way to address everyone is to produce the best tasting food. The only way to eliminate animal meat is to create an alternative to eating it - and Planted's delicious taste offers just that. Taste becomes the brand's North Star - "Taste will Save us." The first campaign under this new brand platform is all about the, traditionally very meaty, summer barbecue. The campaign was launched nationally in Switzerland this week on digital channels such as Instagram, Facebook and Youtube. In addition, a megaposter at Basel train station as well as poster placements and hanging boxes in streetcars are attracting attention and inspiring the next barbecue.
