Foodtech Start-up Planted Launches Plant-Based Grill Skewers in Retail
Kemptthal, Switzerland, June 22, 2022 – With the return of warm weather, the aroma of grilled food is once again in the air. Just in time for the start of this year’s grilling season, Planted is launching an innovation: With the new planted.chicken , the classic grilled skewer is now available in a plant-based version—for everyone who wants to reduce their meat consumption even at the BBQ without sacrificing flavor.
Ready-marinated skewers: From the package directly onto the grill and ready in just 2-3 minutes
Planted stands for transparency, which is why the new planted.chicken consist of just four natural ingredients: water, pea protein, pea fiber, and rapeseed oil. They also provide a good amount of vitamin B12 and are high in protein. Like Planted’s other products, the planted.chicken contain no artificial flavors or preservatives, other additives, soy, gluten, or lactose. To ensure the ready-to-grill skewers turn out especially juicy, simply place them straight from the package on the grill for a maximum of two to three minutes—and your plant-based barbecue meal is ready. A lemon-herb marinade provides that classic BBQ flavor, harmonizing perfectly with the smoky aroma of the grill: Refreshing lemon juice combined with oregano and rosemary gives the skewers a delicious kick, while chili and paprika pair perfectly with plant-based proteins and enhance their flavors.
Meat from plants: Unique fiber structure for the perfect barbecue experience
Planted produces planted.chicken made from alternative proteins, focusing on achieving the perfect bite. Inspired by nature, the company is breaking new ground with a novel biostructuring approach. “Juicy, tender meat combined with a herb marinade makes for a unique summer grilling experience. Now you can enjoy that with our plant-based meat, too,” says Judith Wemmer, head of product development at Planted, adding: “Thanks to our innovative production process, we can simply skip the animal and instead transform peas directly into fibrous meat. This allows us to reduce CO2e emissions by 74% while still enjoying a barbecue just as much, whether at home or in the park.”
Following the success of the existing products planted.chicken,planted.schnitzel, planted.pulled planted.kebab , the new planted.chicken planted.kebab the perfect addition to Planted’s product line.
Nationwide “Taste will Save us” BBQ Campaign in Switzerland
To increase our positive impact on the planet, everyone needs to pull together, and the way to appeal to everyone is to produce the best-tasting food. The only way to give up animal meat is to create an alternative to eating it - and Planted's delicious taste offers just that. Taste becomes the brand's guiding star - “Taste will Save us”. The first campaign under this new brand platform is all about the summer barbecue, which is traditionally very meat-heavy. The campaign was launched nationally in Switzerland this week on digital channels such as Instagram, Facebook and Youtube. In addition, a mega poster at Basel train station as well as poster placements and hanging boxes in trams will attract attention and inspire the next barbecue.
