"The temporary closure of restaurants and mandatory home office in Switzerland made it difficult for us to sell the entire quantity of planted.chicken sesame produced exclusively for canteens and restaurants," explains Tilo Hubmann, Head of Sales Switzerland at Planted. He adds: "With Too Good To Go, we have found an appealing and quick solution so that the leftover planted. planted.chicken sesame ends up on the plate instead of in the trash and at the same time consumers can enjoy delicious plant-based meat made from 100% natural ingredients. "
Food waste is a more relevant topic than ever
More than a third of all food produced is wasted. This contributes significantly to the climate crisis: According to the FAO, food waste is responsible for 8% of global greenhouse gases. This is because numerous resources - such as for transport, processing or cooling - are used on the way from the field to the plate.
"We see the fight against food waste as one of the most effective solutions against climate change," says Alina Swirski, Country Manager of Too Good To Go Switzerland. "That's why we want to inspire and empower all people to join us in the fight against food waste."
Too Good To Go is fighting their battle in Switzerland together with over 4600 partner companies, almost 1.4 million registered users on the app and various initiatives to raise awareness of the issue - and sometimes with rescue operations like these. Since the launch of Too Good To Go Switzerland, the over 3.2 million meals saved have saved around 8000 tonnes of CO₂e. This corresponds to the same amount of CO₂e as about 1,600 flights around the world or almost 50 years of hot showers.
