Four reasons to rely on plant-based nutritional power

Kemptthal, January 8, 2025 - A conscious and enjoyable start to the new year: Veganuary inspires people around the world to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle - including in Switzerland. 2024 was a record year for plant-based nutrition.1 This was also the case for Planted, the Swiss pioneer of plant-based meat: in Switzerland alone, 6653 tons of CO₂ and 521,791,131 liters of water were saved - impressive figures that show how small changes can make a big difference. More and more restaurants are also relying on Planted products, which impress with their natural ingredients, great taste and sustainability. Whether for health, animal welfare or climate protection - Planted offers the perfect basis for conscious decisions without sacrifice.

New year, new habits! Why not live more consciously in 2025 without going without? It's not just about nutrition, but about the big picture: what do I eat, where does it come from and what impact does it have on me and the world around me?

In Switzerland, too, more and more people are using Veganuary as an opportunity to reflect on their eating habits and try out new things. The figures speak for themselves: 2024 was a record year in Switzerland1 in terms of the number of people who opted for a plant-based lifestyle.

Planted successes in Switzerland:

  1. CO₂ reduction: Switching to plant-based proteins in the diet has saved over 6,653 tons of CO₂, which is equivalent to the annual emissions of more than 3,000 cars or over 5,000 transatlantic flights.
  2. Water savings: Compared to the production of animal-based foods, around 521,791,131 liters of water were saved - the equivalent of around 7 million showers or 9 million washing machine cycles.
  3. New partnerships: More and more restaurants are relying on Planted products. The innovative products are already on the menus of 3,200 restaurants in Switzerland, including well-known names in Zurich such as the Kronenhalle, Restaurant Terrasse, Restaurant Haute, Brasserie Bodu in Lucerne and Noa Restaurant in Bern.

- Breaking Habits – Small Steps, Big Impact
A “No-Meat Monday” or a meatless dinner. Planted makes it easy to get started: with great taste and versatile recipe ideas—from planted.steak with rösti to the planted.pulled . Small changes like these can hopefully lead to lasting habits. - Good for your health -Power thanks to plant-based nutrition
"Plant-based nutrition is complicated and unbalanced" -Planted proves the opposite. Each product impresses with a list of ingredients containing only natural ingredients and high nutritional values. While highly processed foods are often high in sugar and fat, the Swiss food tech company focuses on healthy ingredients. Care is taken to ensure that the products are rich in protein and fiber and contain no additives, important micronutrients such as vitamin B12 and little saturated fat and sugar.
The sacrifice is worth it: more and more studies are proving that a plant-based diet is beneficial to our general health and well-being and significantly reduces the risk of chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes2.

- Good for the planet - climate protection starts on the plate
The environmental impact of animal-based food production is enormous: it is responsible for around 14.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions, requires huge amounts of water and is a major driver of biodiversity loss3. With up to 97% less CO₂ emissions and 90% less water consumption, Planted is setting new standards in sustainability in the production of plant-based products.

- Good for the animals – Compassion instead of consumption
In Switzerland, over 50 million animals are slaughtered annually for meat production.⁴ Every conscious choice to go without makes a difference. Planted products offer culinary alternatives and thus stand for animal welfare without compromise.
Planted combines sustainability with enjoyment and proves that a plant-based diet means neither sacrifice nor compromise, but rather authentic flavor and a clear conscience. With plant-based proteins as a tasty and sustainable alternative, Planted is reimagining nutrition and relies on natural ingredients and the highest quality. The focus is on human health, animal welfare, and climate protection. Every choice to eat plant-based—whether it’s a juicy planted.steak or smoky planted.pulled —actively contributes to reducing resource use, emissions, and animal suffering.
