Planted BBQ Products Put to the Test: Is Chrigu Stucki Really Serious About This?

3 minutes reading time

Zurich, April 14, 2026 – Swiss Wrestling Champion Chrigu Stucki and plant-based meat? The self-proclaimed meat lover has been an ambassador for the Swiss food techcompany Planted for over a year—and has sparked quite a bit of debate. The question keeps coming up: Is Stucki serious, or is this just a classic publicity stunt?

With a wink, Planted introduces the Swiss wrestling champion Chrigu Stucki to the test—without a script and under real conditions on a lie detector. The crucial question: Would Chrigu Stucki Planted still eat even without a partner? You can see the honest answer here in the video: https://youtu.be/k_AbH7MzC5Y

The reason for the test: In Switzerland, barbecuing is inextricably linked to meat for many people—and this is exactly where the Zurich-based food techcompany aims to shake things up and is launching a larger planted.steak with a new recipe, as well as three new BBQ products.

When even a die-hard meat lover gives plant-based proteins a try, it becomes clear that the discussion about new sources of protein has long since entered the mainstream.

The BBQ campaign with Chrigu Stucki will be running nationwide via digital out-of-home platforms as well as on YouTube.

The planted.steak: Bigger & better – for the same price

At the heart of the BBQ range and its accompanying campaign is the optimized planted.steak — now bigger and even better. With 25% more content, it has grown to 150 grams, putting noticeably more on your plate at the same price. At the same time, Planted has specifically simplified the recipe: with a shorter ingredient list, 30% less fat, and no added sugar or bean flour.

Despite the optimizations, the planted.steak  No additives High in protein fiber as ever and still No additives absolutely No additives . A steak that delivers on its promise: a hearty bite, a deep, savory umami flavor, and a juicy mouthfeel ensure an intense BBQ experience—uncompromising in quality and enjoyment.

“With the new planted.steak , we are consistently refining our classic: firmer in texture, more intense in flavor, clearer in ingredients—and larger in cut. While others are shrinking, we’re going the opposite way: more meat for the same price. In doing so, we’re taking a clear stand against shrinkflation —and for more on the plate. Of course, the planted.steak rich in protein and dietary fiber, free of additives—and even meat lovers, says Pascal Bieri, co-founder of Planted.

Steak and Three: Planted expands its BBQ range

In addition to the existing BBQ lineup from the optimized planted.steak, planted.steak Paprika and the planted.bratwurst, supplemented Planted is expanding its BBQ lineup with three new products just in time for grilling season:

  • NEW: planted.herb steak– delicately marinated with select herbs and a subtle hint of pepper. Sizzles perfectly on the grill and is rich in protein, iron, and vitamin B12.

  • NEW: planted.skewers Smoky BBQ – Limited Edition, developed using the proven fermentation technology from Planted, with a smoky BBQ flavor. Quick to prepare on the grill and a highlight for authentic BBQ moments.

  • NEW: planted.skewers Herbs – Reimagined with our popular Lemon & Herb – known from planted.shredded Lemon & Herb
